What are braces?

Braces are metal or plastic devices that are placed on the teeth to adjust their positions. They are designed to achieve a better bite and improve the way your teeth fit together.

The goal of braces is to improve your smile appearance, chewing, speech patterns, and self-esteem.

There are many different types of braces that may be used for different types of malocclusions (incorrect bite). Orthodontists typically choose one type based on what they see in their examination. The objective of the dentist is to achieve a dramatic brace before and after transformation.

What is involved in the process of getting braces?

You can get braces as an option for dental treatment to straighten teeth and align them as desired. There are many benefits to getting braces such as improved oral health, more confidence in one’s smile, and healthier teeth.

The braces process includes a consultation with a dentist where the patient will be given advice on the best type of braces for their teeth and will know what to expect from the procedure.

After this consultation, the patient is then provided with two sets of orthodontic appliances: one set for their upper jaw and one set for their lower jaw. They can choose to go through any number of phases before they are completely finished with treatment; most patients go through six phases.

Kendall Jenner braces before and after

Kendall Jenner has had her share of orthodontic treatment done. Kendall first had braces at the age of 13 then again when she was old enough to have clear aligners that permanently tighten, shift and fix teeth without metal or wires.

Cindy Crawford braces before and after

Supermodel Cindy was born with a severe overbite and crooked teeth, so she had to wear steel braces as a young woman.

She shared with her followers a family photo when she was in her teens, which showed that with time, patients can come out really well. She had braces & a homemade dress on, which proves that nobody is born with a Hollywood smile.

As a young model, Cindy Crawford wanted her teeth to look perfect for her next photoshoot. She had her braces fitted again and soon became a household name with a beautiful smile.

Delta Goodrem braces before and after

Delta Goodrem first had braces at the age of 13, before she fell into her singing and acting career. Her fame as an Australian singer-songwriter who regularly makes appearances on The Voice has made her a household name.

The photo on the left was taken during one of her first photoshoots. Her photographer at the time described her as being very shy. Delta’s confidence has since grown and her gorgeous straight smile can be seen everywhere. Nowadays she is a familiar face in the Australian media and is coming to prominence internationally.

Daniel Ricciardo braces before and after

The Australian Formula One Driver is famous for his toothy grin, but it wasn’t always perfect. Daniel Riccardo had crooked and crowded teeth until he saw an orthodontist. He went for ceramic braces whilst he was still able to take advantage of this type of treatment, and that should give him a long-lasting beautiful smile for years to come.

In a 2014 interview he stated “I’m really glad I got braces when I did because obviously it’s paying off now and, especially if you smile a lot, it’s nice to have that confidence in knowing your teeth are good. I encourage it. Even if you’re in your 20s, it’s good stuff!”

Beam clear aligners compared to braces?

Beam clear aligners can achieve the same braces before and after transformation although with additional benefits:

  • Treatment time for clear aligners is 4-6 months compared to 18 months + for braces.
  • Patient comfortability is much higher with clear aligners than braces – braces can be painful!
  • Clear aligners can be taken off to eat food and for other activities.
  • Clear aligners are transparent compared to braces which require ugly metal wires.
  • Beam clear aligners are up to 70% less than braces so they won’t break the bank!

Therefore, given you can achieve the same braces before and after with clear aligners, although with the added benefits above we think it’s a no-brainer which one to choose.
